Three Tips for Promoting an Indie Book

My Three Tips for Promoting an indie book isn’t all that tough. There are so many things you can do after your book is published to keep it ranking well. I have tried many of the expected as well as some of those beyond the expected.

Here is what you can try

Once you published your book and begin moving ahead start looking beyond the box, beyond Amazon, beyond AMS ads, and beyond promos to get sales and notoriety when promoting an indie book.

For me, since I already have a coaching business, a nice hefty and active following, and over 15 years with online businesses I have collected a few tools along the way that I was able to use and I would love to share them with you in this article.

Here is what I did and what you can try when promoting an indie book

Here is what I did and what you can do to:

  1. Reach out to any organization you can think of that is in your niche. I emailed, I called (phone), wrote snail mail letters (handwritten) to everyone I came across.
  2. Join all kinds of social media groups that don’t pertain to self-publishing or books. For me, they all had animals in common.
  3. Gentle comments here and there on social media. I never tried to sell my book to them but gave useful and personal tips.

Being in 100+ Social Media groups is nuts and time-consuming but it has paid off. How? All kinds of organizations reached out to me!

The one I am including here is fun!

A print magazine. I got paid for this gig and they gave me center-fold. Plus, they asked me to develop a continuing education course for their members! Being center-fold in a print magazine is a big deal!

So you can see that promoting an indie book needs to be creative!  As you can see it is very niche specific as this is a magazine for Professional Pet Sitters. But the results are incredible.

Since the publication of this article. My sales for my books increased and I had a dozen pet sitters personally contact me for coaching on pet loss and for writing their first book.

WOW….so think beyond the book, Amazon, AMS ads and promo! Do all of these things and they are necessary but are just a small part of the self-publishing world.

Go beyond and think, “How can I be center-fold when promoting an indie book?!”
